Schedule a Group or School Visit

Interested in an in-person group or school tour? How about a virtual classroom visit?

Our in-person tours and virtual classroom visits are appropriate for upper middle-school, high-school, and college students in history, social studies, environmental studies, general science, or chemistry courses. They are also appropriate for a wide range of adult and non-school groups, clubs, and organizations curious about the science in their lives.

In-Person Visits

We currently offer the following activities for in-person group and school visits:

  • Self-guided activities such as age-appropriate scavenger hunts, puzzles, and worksheets
  • A guided tour on Science & Activism exploring stories of environmental justice, patients’ rights, community science, and more
  • A guided Water Tour that explores the importance of water and the histories of pollution and protection that have changed our relationship to this vital substance, including a stop in Downstream, our current award-winning exhibition
  • A guided tour on Women in Chemistry, highlighting the central role of women in shaping chemistry and the material sciences throughout history

We suggest allowing one hour for your group visit. Advance reservations are required.

Scheduling and Pricing

Group visits are available during our regular public hours on Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Up to 10 people: $20 per group
  • 11–20 people: $40 per group
  • 21–30 people: $60 per group
  • 31–40 people: $80 per group

Virtual Visits to Your Classroom

We currently offer the following topics for virtual classroom visits:

  • What’s Behind a Nobel Prize?
Every year, the Nobel Prizes shine a spotlight on a few scientists. But out of the spotlight are the large and diverse teams that make transformative research happen. In this live classroom visit, explore who is really behind the science.
  • Synthetic Dyes and Indigenous Craft
The bright colors of synthetic dyes profoundly changed the work of dispossessed Navajo weavers in the late 1800s. In this live classroom visit, explore the troubling connections between technology and tradition that are woven into a Navajo “Eye-Dazzler.”

Virtual classroom visits are scheduled for 30 to 40 minutes.

Virtual classroom visits are subject to availability and reservations should be made at least two weeks in advance. To request a time for your virtual visit or to discuss other virtual visit options, fill out the form below or call 215.873.8237.

National and Pennsylvania content standards in social studies and science education for each program are available on request.
